In three days, 23 students were arrested for fighting at Southwood High School. A group of dads decided enough was enough.Dads have been there every morning since, with about 40 of them taking shifts to now also patrol during lunch and after school. Some have said the group, called ” Dads on Duty ”, is an example of relying on community intervention instead of police.
The parents greet students every morning, often times with jokes and words of encouragement, and kids say their positive reinforcement is working. The Dads on Duty may show a bit of tough love to students, but the group of fathers has also provided a little source of entertainment.
