Jim McDonough decided to combine his passions to create a Lego navy boat that is truly the stuff of legend.

It’s taken him three years and a hell of a lot of leisure time to make it, but here it is, a 24ft long, 4ft 6 inch high scaled down version of the USS Missouri.

The vessel fought during the Second World War at both Iwo Jima and Okinawa where the Japanese formally surrendered to the United States.

The ship also fought in the Korean War but was decommissioned afterwards and was only reactivated in the 1980s to support Operation Desert Storm.
