Rare Footage of Simon & Garfunkel Singing ‘The Sound Of Silence’ Live In 1966

Folk rock duo Simon & Garfunkel performed in many venues over the years. One of their earlier guest appearances back in the ’60’s was on a Canadian television series called Let’s Sing Out.

Simon takes a moment to explain what inspired the song at the beginning of the video:

“One of the biggest hangups we have today is the inability of people to communicate, not only on an intellectual level, but on an emotional level as well. So you have people unable to touch other people, unable to love other people. And this is a song about the inability to communicate.”
